Prevention & Follow-Up

Store grains in sealed glass jars or airtight plastic containers — don't use cardboard boxes for long-term storage. Keep your pantry and storage areas dry and well-ventilated. Regularly sweep up flour dust, crumbs, and grain debris from the bottom and corners of shelves. Buy grains in small amounts and restock often to shorten storage time. If you find grain beetles, clean out the entire pantry and throw away any grain products that are caked together or infested. Freeze newly bought flour and grains for 48 hours before storing them.
