How to use bifenazate to kill bryobia mites?

Mites hide on leaf undersides, so the key to spraying is ensuring the insecticide reaches every part of the undersides.

Spray direction

  • Spray from below — position the nozzle beneath the leaves and spray upward, so the solution reaches the undersides.
  • Alternatively, tilt the pot to make undersides more accessible.
  • Spraying from above will deposit most of the solution on the upper surfaces, missing the undersides.

Spray areas

  • Leaf undersides — where mites primarily live, distributed along veins.
  • Also spray young shoots and stems.
  • Spray the soil surface as well.

Spray technique

  • Spray until the undersides are thoroughly wet and begin to drip.
  • Hold the nozzle about 30 cm from the leaves.
  • Lift each leaf to spray its underside.
  • Do not miss the older leaves at the bottom of the plant.

Frequency

  • Spray every 5-7 days.
  • Continue for 2-3 applications.
  • Check after each spray and re-treat any missed areas.
  • Spray until undersides are dripping.

Combine with environmental adjustments

During spraying, combine with the following to improve control:

  • Increase humidity — mites prefer dry conditions; misting increases air humidity.
  • Reduce nitrogen fertilizer — temporarily reduce nitrogen to limit tender growth.
  • Maintain ventilation — keep air circulating around plants.
  • Remove old leaves — pick off heavily damaged older leaves to reduce mite populations.

Precautions

  • Do not water within 24 hours after spraying to avoid diluting the residue.
  • Do not spray during flowering.
