House Flies Control & Removal Guide

(Common housefly, Filth fly)

*Musca domestica*

How They Get In

  1. Flies enter directly through open doors and windows — especially when cooking odors drift out.
  2. Trash and food odors strongly attract flies from outdoors up to several kilometers away.
  3. Flies from hallway trash areas and landscaping breed en masse and spread to units.
  4. Balcony-dried cured meats and dried foods attract flies to land, feed, and lay eggs.

How to Get Rid of Them

  1. Pre-Treatment: Refrigerate or seal all food. Seal garbage bags and close trash lids. Repair screen damage. Remove pet bowls. Remove food and dishes.;
  2. Key Zones: Door and window perimeters and windowsills, entry doors, around trash cans, kitchen corners and counters, balcony drying areas.;
  3. Application: Spray door/window frames in continuous bands. Light mist indoor air for flying adults. Spray floor corners along baseboards. Never on food, dishes, or kitchenware.;
  4. Post-Treatment: Close 30 minutes, ventilate 30 minutes. Flies are sensitive to insecticides; indoor spraying provides rapid knockdown. New flies continuously enter from outdoors — screens are essential.;
  5. Prevention: Install and maintain tight screens and door curtains. Seal garbage, empty daily. Clean trash cans weekly. Never leave food uncovered. Hang fly strips at doorways during summer.

Prevention & Follow-Up

Keep trash cans covered and take out garbage daily. Clean up pet waste immediately. Install window screens on all windows and doors. Don't leave food or dirty dishes out. Use fly traps or sticky strips in problem areas.
